Why this retreat exists

I discovered padel at a point when life was already full. Not because I needed to escape, but because I wanted something that challenged me, absorbed my attention, and reminded me how good it feels to learn.

Padelist — The Cape Coast Padel Retreat exists because choosing yourself doesn't have to mean stepping away. Sometimes it means stepping into something that gives you energy, perspective, and momentum.

Self-care doesn't always look quiet or passive. Sometimes it looks like movement, focus, and getting a little sweaty in pursuit of better rallies and a few more Playtomic points.

There will be time to rest here. But there will also be challenge, curiosity, and adventure.

Is this for you?

This retreat will feel like a good fit if you find yourself saying yes to a few of these:

You enjoy being active — or want to be — without everything needing to feel competitive

You like working on something you want to get better at

You value travel that feels thoughtful and well put together, not rushed or generic

You're drawn to experiences that give you energy, perspective, and momentum

You want time that's genuinely yours, without needing to justify it

You don't need to be an experienced padel player. And you don't need to be "on a journey". You just need to be open to a week of movement, focus, good conversation, and space.

Why padel?

Padel is social, absorbing, and surprisingly powerful. It asks for focus, presence, cooperation, and play — and it rewards progress quickly, which makes learning feel energising rather than frustrating.

Psychologically, it offers:

  • A strong sense of flow
  • Visible improvement in a short time
  • Connection through shared effort

Combined with excellent coaching, sunshine, and a small group, it becomes more than a sport — it becomes a reset.

Why the Garden Route?

Garden Route coastline, South Africa — Padelist retreat location

The "Cape Coast" doesn't refer to a resort strip, but to a quieter, more expansive stretch of South Africa's coastline — best experienced along the Garden Route.

This is where locals come to holiday. It's exceptionally beautiful, relaxed, and safe. And it's often overlooked in international travel, which is exactly what makes it special.

Here you'll find forests, beaches, mountains, wildlife, and space to breathe — all at a slower, more grounded pace.

This retreat is about dialling into the area, not rushing through it. There's adventure here if you want it, and stillness if you don't.

What the week looks like

Life on Padelist — The Cape Coast Padel Retreat is structured but unforced.

Each day is shaped around:

Daily padel coaching and play

with excellent local coaches

Time to rest, explore, or simply be

your schedule, your choice

Shared meals and easy conversation

connect with like-minded people

Optional adventures

including safari for those who want it

Expect to move most days, get satisfyingly tired in the good way, and finish each day feeling used by choice, not obligation.

You'll always know what's happening — and you'll always be free to opt out.

This is not a bootcamp. And it's not a retreat where you're expected to sit still all day.

About me, as your host

I'm not here as a coach or a wellness authority.

I'm here as a passionate padel player, a lifelong traveller, and someone embedded in the local padel culture.

I'll be present throughout the week — coordinating, hosting, and making sure the experience feels calm, considered, and well looked after.

Padelist is an extension of how I live, travel, and play — and I care deeply that it's done properly.
